Electro Dance Montreal
En 2019 inició el Proyecto de Cypher Electro Montreal, Canadá para hacerle un espacio al Electro Dance en la comunidad dancística del Norte. Gracias en gran parte al precedente de la comunidad Electro Montreal, una iniciativa que Doza (@carlosdoza) pudo conocer en sus inicios de bailarín (hace unos 12 años) organizada por Electro Dancers del momento.
Disminución de la Comunidad
Como en casi todas partes del mundo, el deterioro de la popularidad así como distintas situaciones personales de cada uno de los miembros hacía que cada vez fueran menos bailarines a los eventos, menos competidores, menos personas improvisando en los Jams. Así Electro Montreal fue poco a poco terminando.
Doza, ícono crucial en la escena Canadiense comenzó desde ceros un proyecto para atraer a distintos bailarines de diversas danzas, nuevas generaciones para empaparlos del movimiento Electro Dance del presente.
—Tuve que revisar por qué empecé todo éste movimiento Electro. Porque iniciamos como simples prácticas, sesiones abiertas, en el aire libre, en el centro de montreal ¿sabes? ¡Todos vengan! ¿Sabes Electro? ¡Ok ven! ¿Sabes Popping pero te gusta el Electro? ¡Ven!
Lo que estabamos haciendo siempre era Cypher.
Aprender Electro Dance en Cyphers
Yo aprendí Electro en Cyphers. Nunca tuve un maestro o un mentor que estuviera viendo por mí así que para mí siempre fue como “yo hago mi baile en círculo, y siento y sé que éste es el lugar para que yo comparta y aprenda de mirar a otros bailarines. Por eso lo llamé Cypher Electro, porque éste es el círculo. Éste es el lugar donde todos somos diferentes pero todos tenemos la misma pasión por el Electro.”
Empezó como Cyphers para unir a todos los que todavía hacían Electro en el momento. Quería mantener esto vivo y sabía que si no hacía nada iba a morir aún más.
Batallas, talleres, videos, compartir conocimiento.
Después de la pandemia sabía que era el momento de iniciar nuevas cosas tuve que organizar batallas, talleres, videos, presentaciones, todos los aspectos de la danza para volverla una comunidad completa. No es solo ir a practicar una vez a la semana y ya, es compartir documentos, platicar, llegar a la historia del Electro, de la Música, de todos estos aspectos que están relacionados con la cultura Electro.

In 2019 Cypher Electro Montreal was born to make a place for the Electro Dancer Community of the North.
Thanks in a great extend to the Community Electro Montreal , a project that Doza was able to get to know (about 12 years ago) organized by Electro Dancers of the moment.
Electro Dance Montreal
Just like everywhere else the hype went down and every time there were less and less dancers at events, competing or gathering around for the Jams that’s how Electro Montreal ended up.
Doza, crucial iconic Electro Dancer in the Canadian scene started a proyect by scratch to get dancers from different genre and new generations to start them in the Electro Dance movement of today.
The Dawn of the Community
—I had to review why did I start this movement because we began by having practices, open sessions, outdoors or downtown Montreal you know? Everybody come! You know Electro? Ok come! You know popping but you like Electro? Come!
What we were doing was always Cypher.
Learning Electro through Cyphers
—I learned Electro Dance through Cyphers I didn’t have a teacher or a mentor to look after me so it was like “I do my dance in Circle, I feel and I know this is the place for me to share and learn as I look at other dancers, that’s why I called it Cypher Electro because this is the circle, this is the place where we are all different but we have the same passion for Electro”.
Started as Cyphers to gather anybody that still did Electro at the moment. I wanted to keep this alive and I knew if I didn’t do anything it was going to die even more.
Battles, Workshops, Videos
After Pandemic I knew it was the time to start new things so I organized battles, workshops, videos, presentations, every aspect of the dance to make it a full community, is not only going practice once a week and that’s it, is to share documents, talk, going to the history of Electro, of the music, of all those aspects related to Electro Culture.
